Kunal Parikh is a passionate advocate for social justice issues surrounding aging, caregiving and those with disabilities, a digital health strategist, and a dedicated educator at Algonquin College, where he teaches Digital Health and Business Systems Design. Originally from India, Kunal began his career as a practicing physician before realizing the immense potential of technology to improve patient safety and healthcare quality. This led him to pivot to health-tech, completing a postgraduate program in Digital Health in Ottawa.
With more than six years of experience in the aging and caregiving space, Kunal has worked at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and education, always with a focus on addressing inequities in care. His commitment to older adults led him to earn a Master’s degree in Aging and Health from Queen’s University, where he received the prestigious Award of Excellence for his research on virtual caregiver interventions. He is so committed to his passion of working with older adults that he ended up living in a condo that is designated as Naturally Occurring Retirement Community.
Kunal found a lot of joy working at a digital health startup, where his ability to build strong relationships and bridge the gap between product development and client needs made him a respected leader in the aging space. Known for his people-first approach, Kunal brings a unique blend of empathy, curiosity, and analytical thinking to everything he does. He’s a lifelong learner who inspires others to take bold risks and pursue innovative solutions, all while fostering a positive and collaborative environment. Strongly inspired by the Golden Girls and Taylor Swift, Kunal is a strong advocate for social change, always working to create a more equitable and supportive world for older adults and caregivers.
