A native anglophone Montrealer, Myke Wilder has worked in English and French his entire working life, starting at age 11 in his father’s gas station. During a 28-year career in Corporate Communications, he distinguished himself as a creative communicator, a champion of Plain English Communications, and a quintessential round peg in a square hole. Working and in Montreal for large companies like The (Montreal) Gazette, Bell Canada, and Canadian National; and then consulting to a plethora of SMEs, his role was often to facilitate communications – spoken and written - between anglophones and francophones.
In 2013, after years of requests from clients, and facing a worsening a hearing impairment, Myke returned to school part time to study Teaching English Second Language (TESL). As a certified TESL instructor under the new banner of Linguistique Myke Wilder, he became even better positioned to help his francophone and foreign clients succeed in English markets. He practiced one-on-one online coaching long before the pandemic made it fashionable and his client list spans the globe.
In private life, Myke lives a quiet, bilingual life in Montreal with his francophone conjointe. He is an avid cyclist – even in Winter, a contributing storyteller to Confabulation Montreal, and is fascinated by the history of his home town, and the history and future evolution of the English Language.
